Livelihoods And Economic Development

We provide food assistance to communities affected by both natural and man-made disasters across Somalia to prevent loss of life and to contribute to the rehabilitation of local food and market infrastructure and systems. We advocate for proactive policies and promote livelihood programmes and strategies that protect, recover and strengthen individuals’ and households’ abilities to earn a living and enhance community resilience to withstand the effects of drought and famine. To prevent repeated displacement, we support engagement in social and economic opportunities that reinforce the adaptive capacity of systems, individuals, families and communities affected by displacement. We also provide emergency food provision or food voucher programmes, irrigation services, training and capacity development in agriculture and distribution of agricultural inputs.
