SIADO is a non-Governmental and non-profit humanitarian organization that is registered with the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Somalia and legally mandated to operate in all the regional states of Somalia including: Galmudug, Puntland, South West State, Hirshabelle state, Jubaland and Banadir region.
SIADO intends to expand its operations in the entire Horn of Africa region in the near future.
The formation of SIADO was a response of the need to accord humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable population in Somalia who has been affected by natural disasters and languishing in humanitarian crisis. For decades, poverty, marginalization, armed violence, insecurity, natural hazards and lack of development have driven up humanitarian needs in the various regions across Somalia. Lack of access to basic services especially education, health and livelihoods opportunities have made the population more vulnerable to diseases, malnutrition and gross human rights abuses, as well as encouraging outward migration in search of employment and increasing susceptibility of recruitment to non-state armed forces.
To adequately achieve its humanitarian mandate, SIADO works closely with like-minded Charitable Organizations, Donors, Governmental organizations, Embassies and High Commissions, the County Governments and the communities living in the regions that it operates.
In executing its operation, SIADO adheres to the internationally cherished humanitarian principles and practice which saves lives and alleviate suffering, thus attracting all the necessary moral and emotional support from the general population that it serves.
Board of Directors: SIADO has 5 founding members who make up the Board of Directors. The BOD governs the strategies, policies and the operations of the organization. The 5 BOD have different roles and responsibilities, namely; Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and two other members. The organization has also Executive Director appointed by the Board. The Chairperson leads, directs and runs the overall operations of the organization. Specific roles, responsibilities and functions are outlined in the organization constitution.
Our organization engages and deploys dedicated staff throughout its operations. It relies on this talented and outstanding team to achieve its objectives and goals and realize its highly cherished vision and mission.
